A silver mounted snuff box made of abalone shell, unmarked, English, circa 1800. This box is 3 inches long and two inches wide. The top of the box is silver and it is not engraved. Note the iridescent color of the abalone shell..

An interesting snuff box with accessories by J Rogers, Sheffield, 1813.  The top and bottom of the box are mother of pearl.  The comb is slightly damaged, and the knife blades are somewhat rusted.

A very fine snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham, 1845. This box is finely engraved on the top, bottom and sides with scrolls. It is 2 3/4 by 1 3/4 inches. It is also engraved on the top"From Captn P. Buckley Williames, To Robt Guar, For His Proiciency in the Sword Exercise, 1846. The interior is gilt. Excellent condition.

An unusual brass and horn traveling campaign flatware set for one, French, circa 1800.  This set was likelly for a military officer.  When full disengaged and fully exterded the knife and spoon are 10 1/2 inches long.  There is a small chip to the horn on the knife.

A fascinating wood box with silverplate mounts of Irish interest.  The oak box is mounted on the cover with two Irishmen fighting with cudgels, the ground beneath with the inscription "Erin Go Braugh."  The inside cover is inset with an ivory disk incribed "House of Commons Octr. 16, 1834.  This is the date that the House of Commons burned down, but the Irish were never accused of doing it and we dont quite know what to make of the association.  It is possible that the oak was salvaged from the fire The box is 3 1/2 inches in diameter and has a pull-off cover.

A silver gilt snuff box byWilliam Parker, London, 1800.  This box is 2 1/2 inches long and two inches wide.  Some wear to gilding on the reverse.

A large filigree box of uncertain origin, probably European.  This box is 3 3/8 inches long.  Good quality and condition.

A purse shaped silver gilt vinaigrette by TF, Birmingham, 1824.  It is 1 1/4 inches long and is fully marked on the cover and body.  The gilt is slightly worn.  Strangely enough it still contains the sponge that held the liquid.

An early English filigree sizzors case, unmarked, dating from 1680.  It has a pull-off cover.  It is 3 inches long.

A late 17th century box covered with red velvet, mounted with silver-thread trim and with silver hooks and eyes for closure. The box is made of wood, lined with white silk, and perhaps was for a miniature bible or prayer book. The velvet and silver borders thread borders are worn but intact and are quite presentable considering the age and fragility of the materials. It is 3 7/8" by 2 7/8" and 1 3/16" high to the slightly domed cover. Probably English; possibly Dutch or French.

A Chinese opium box, circa 1900. The embossed scene is of a domestic courtyard setting. The reverse contains a Chinese hallmark. The box is hinged in two places the the top opens up to reveal two separate compartments. It is 3 1/2 inches by 3 inches and is 1 1/4 inches tall.

A marvelous Victorian traveling kit made out of manta ray skin with silver overlay, probably English or French, circa 1880. The box is 5 1/2 inches long and four inches wide. The open kit reveals sterling makeup instruments variously hallmarked for London and Sheffield makers, the toothbrush and small rectangular box are unmarked. The nail file and two round boxes contain London hallmarks for 1879. There is a buttonhook, a perfume bottle, a needle case, etc. The small round boxes unscrew and are for powder and other kinds of makeup. As you can see from the photograph, several of the implements are missing. The interior of the case are somewhat discolored and shows signs of wear. All in all a great little find.

An unmarked English tobacco box, circa 1750 with an interesting presentation inscription. It has lightly engraved initials on the front. The reverse is engraved "The gift of Nath. Mounteney to Richard Meade never to be parted from the Family of the Meads."

A beautifully painted gilt metal enamel egg-shaped bonbonniere, English, circa 1775. It is 2 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The painted scene on the front is of a field with architectural elements in the background. The top shows a classical urn in the foreground with figures walking and a lake and buildings in the background. Several cracks on the interior, but none goes thru to the outside of the box.

A sterling silver gilt snuff box, English unmarked, circa 1810. This box is 3 inches long and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. It weighs 6 ounces. The basket weave pattern is continued on the reverse, and the sides are decorated with flowers.
