BEER & WINE JUGS

A big and flashy claret jug with grape-vine mounts. It is 12 7/8 high, the body of good quality cut glass and the mounts stamped 13 or 750 fine. Probably Austrian, made before 1885, when that standard system was generally replaced by decimal fineness marks. The handle has one of those mechanisms which opens the lid by squeezing the two parts together. Very impressive, and good condition except for a little staining at the bottom of the glass.
Item 402285 $3,500.00

A wonderful Continental claret jug with sterling mounts, unmarked, except for London import marks for James Dixon, London, 1900. This claret jug is highly decorated incorporating dolphins, flowers, shells and leafage. It stands 13 inches high and the condition is superb.
